#Runthetap
Access to clean drinking water is vital to the health and well-being of a family. But sadly, in some regions of Ghana access to clean water is still very limited causing families to walk over a mile to reach the nearest water source.

Targeted Areas
Ghana Aid has engaged area Chiefs and Assembly Men to create a heat map of the direst and pressing areas to prioritize installation. Due to the population density and historic concentration of limited resources, this effort will take priority in the Lapaz, Chantai Market, Adenta, Chorkor, and Newtown areas of the greater Accra capital.
Impact & Goal

To have 100 water resources installed in and around Newtown over the next five years, at a radius of roughly a half mile to make clean water more accessible. The 2023 goal, dubbed “the #runthetap challenge”, is to obtain the financial commitment to break ground on 20 water sources this year. Each water source will service roughly 3,000 people.
Donation

We are asking people to #runthetap and run the tab, by donating any amount big or small, to support this impactful and life changing cause. The average project will cost around $3,000 USD per install. Naming rights and signage opportunities are also available for an additional cost.

Construction

A team of masons and professional builders have been consulted, with availability and scheduling to take place as donations are received. Based on expert knowledge of the area, these builders along with Ghana Aid will determine the best option for the area. Projects are estimated to take around a month to complete, from the groundbreaking date.
Borehole - (most resilient option) taps into an underground water source
Water well - collects and stores rain water
